Stonework facades or detailings can be damaged from a variety of reasons but most commonly from weathering, poor maintenance and incorrect materials & methodologies used in past restoration work.

When working with stonework on facades that are centuries old, it is vitally important to incorporate the correct methodologies. Equally as important is utilising specialists that have the right experience in conducting this type of work. When carrying out remedial repairs we undertake through analysis of the condition of the substrate and identify the correct mortars and corrective methods to utilise.

Our expert stonemasons are specialists in the repair of all types of external stone from cornices, corbels and sills to intricate ornamental mouldings.

Sometimes it can be the case that certain elements of stonework are simply too far gone and are beyond repair. In these specific cases, we can manufacture newly made stone in order to completely replace the damaged substrate.  

Harte Stone & Brick specialise in the replacement of all types of stone whether whole sections of stone such as a natural stone sill or missing ornamental fixings such as corbels and dentils. For every replacement scenario, we make sure to carefully assess the source materials and cast replacements to appear identical as possible as the original fixing. Our expert Masons can do this in a variety of ways such as hand crafting or casting using a mould. 

Over time dirt, pollution and algae can accumulate on stone that can take away from the building’s aesthetic. Cleaning is also a vital step to assess the condition of stone before repairs are made to the substrate. Over the last thirty years we have developed extensive experience in various cleaning methodologies meaning we fully understand the need for analysis to understand the types of aggregates and the correct approach in removing them.

Our masons are experts in the repair of all types of damaged stone mouldings and details such as Corbels, Cornices, Columns & Capitals. We can rebuild stonework that has been damaged for various reasons such as rotted stone from moisture or rusted supporting steel. Our methodologies allow us to replicate the fixings original aesthetic no matter how intricate in detail. Fixings that are beyond repair, can be cast and replaced with newly manufactured stone.
