Stucco and render have been used as a decorative coating since the Greek and Roman ages. Beautiful, but especially susceptible to weathering - most facades need attention every few decades. We repair, restore and reproduce external stucco and architectural detailing across London.

Pointing is the part of a facade most people never notice until it fails: the joint profile decides how a wall sheds water, how it ages, and how the brickwork reads from the street. Cleaned correctly, a black facade comes back to the yellow stock, red or gault it was built from. Cleaned badly - high pressure, harsh acids, sanding - the fired skin of the brick is opened up and the wall takes water for the rest of its life. Stone is far less forgiving than brick. Portland and Bath stone carry soft, absorbent surfaces beneath their weathered crust, and once that crust is blasted off the stone erodes quickly.
