Brick restoration

Brick restoration

We take on the most complex brickwork restoration in London — from cleaning a soot-bound facade back to its original stock, to rebuilding gauged arches and intricate coursework. Every approach starts with the brick itself and the mortar around it.

Brick repair

Brickwork suffers from moisture, past paint and coatings, physical damage and unsuitable repairs made decades ago. Where bricks have spalled, blown or fractured, our masons identify the right methodology — cutting out and splicing, structural support where needed, and a mortar chosen to work with the surrounding fabric rather than against it.

Some brickwork is beyond saving. When replacement is the only honest answer, we source replica bricks from trusted suppliers matched as closely as possible in colour, texture and size to what is being taken out.

That care keeps two things intact: the performance and durability of the wall, and the appearance of the facade as it was built.

Brick cleaning

Cleaning is where most restoration projects begin. It strips back paint, loose mortar and pollutants, reveals the brick's natural colour, and — just as importantly — lets us see the true condition of the brick and the pointing underneath before anything is specified.

We take the time to test and select the appropriate method for each facade. Our specialist systems include TORC and DOFF machinery for removing paint, coatings, algae and vegetation, with operatives experienced across brick, stone and terracotta.

Brick tinting

Brick tinting

Tinting is the step that makes a repair disappear. Following repair or replacement, it matches new brick to the existing facade so the eye reads one wall rather than a patchwork.

We match existing shades using carefully reclaimed brick dust and specialist tinting solutions, used to brighten or darken the brickwork as required. Dyes come in a full range of shades, so any desired scheme can be achieved — including restoring colour to a tired facade to lift the value of the property.

A few photographs of the facade are usually enough for us to understand the scope.
